It is very, very hard to describe the way that Barbie looks in this game. Both that game and this one uses the same kind of animation style to try and make the characters look real. Full honesty here, before I started my playthrough of Barbie as the Island Princess I would have put 50 bucks on this being a side view platform game. Well, I would have lost as this is a collection of mini-games and a ton of them at that!
I was seriously surprised at how many mini-games make this thing up. One will see fruit be thrown by an elephant onto a trampoline and you have to catch it.
There is a fishing game, a silhouette matching game and a game where you need to take the right food to the right barrel. There is even a weird DDR style rhythm game as well. None of the games are what I would call amazing, but with so many on offer and the fact they last a couple of minutes tops. It does at least keep things from getting boring. As this is a Barbie game, getting Barbie to look like a million bucks is the ultimate goal.
You can earn new dresses and items which you can then dress her up with inside the dressing room. She needs to prepare the outfits that she's going to wear and the island princess needs help with that. Play the game to create her cruise holiday look, do her nails, give her a nice makeup and also help her choose not only the day time outfits, but the bedtime ones too!
